The Fly

If you truly ponder upon this hadith you will realise the true dangers of Shirk however small it may be, and the greatness of Tawheed how ever little it may be.
It is reported from Tariq Ibn Shihab (ra) that the Prophet said:
“A man entered Paradise because of a fly, while another entered the Fire because of a fly.”
They asked:
“How was that possible, oh, Messenger of Allah ?”
He replied:
“Two men passed by a people who had an idol, which it was not permissible for anyone to pass without making a sacrifice to it. They (the people) said to the first man: “Sacrifice (something).”
He said: “I have nothing with which to do so.” They said: “Sacrifice some-thing, even if it were only a fly,” and so he did so, and they allowed him to continue on his way and so he entered the Hell-fire.
Then they said to the second man: “Sacrifice (something).” But he said: “I will not sacrifice anything unless it be to Allah , the Almighty, the All-powerful,” so they struck his neck (and he died) and entered Paradise.”

We understand Tawheed!

This topic can not be stressed enough even though some people say we understand Tawheed! We are muslims! Not Mushriks, teach us other stuff that will gain us more benefit instead of adressing us as non muslims talking about Tawheed day in and day out!
Shaykh Saaleh aale-Shaykh mentions in his explanation of kashf ash-Shubuhaat, the following story:
Shaykh-ul-Islam Muhammad ibn Abdul-Wahhaab was with his students and after having completed the study of his book ‘Kitab at-Tawheed’, he wished to start again the study of this book for the 3rd or 4th time.
His students said to him : “O Shaykh, we wish to study another book, a book of fiqh or hadith”.
The Shaykh replied: “Why (do you wish to study another book)?”.
His students: “We have in fact understood Tawheed, we want to study another science”.
The Shaykh: “Wait, I shall give some thought to this”.
A few days later, the shaykh came to the lesson with a troubled face. His students asked him the reason for it.
The shaykh explained that he’d come across something which angered him. His students asked what it was.
The Shaykh: “It has been related to me that the inhabitants of a house have sacrificed a rooster (for a Jinn) in front of their door. I have sent someone to confirm this affair”.
Some time later, his students asked him about the affair that he had mentioned.
The Shaykh replied: “In fact, the inhabitants of this house did not sacrifice for other than Allaah, but it was someone who fornicated with his mother”.
Shocked, his students exclaimed:”We seek refuge with Allaah! He fornicated with his mother? We seek refuge with Allaah! He fornicated with his mother…”.
After mentioning this story, Shaykh Saleeh explained that Shaykh-ul-Islam told this story to show them that the statement “We understand Tawheed” is ignorance and is one of the greatest tricks of the Shaytaan.
Two Pagan Festivals

I am sure most people already know this but for those who might not be aware of the fact this is worth mentioning.
Within these coming few days the Muslim Ummah will be afflicted by two festivals which are both not part of Islaam yet many muslims wrongfully practise them.
Some claim they are harmless, others quite frankly say they might actually be part of Islaam. This is a very serious lie against Allah and His Messenger.
The two festivals being reffered to are Valentines Day and the Birthday of the Prophet. As for Valentines day then it is right out pagan; Muslims fail to realize this:
Valentine’s Day is a jaahili Roman festival, which continued to be celebrated until after the Romans became Christian. This festival became connected with the saint known as Valentine who was sentenced to death on 14 February 270 CE. The kuffaar still celebrate this festival, during which immorality and evil are practised widely.
And as for celebrating the birth of the Prophet then it has its roots in Paganism too. And it is nothing but trying to imitate the Christians practise of celebrating the birth of Jesus.
Shaykh Ibn Taymiyyah writes in his book Iqtidaa Siraatal Mustaqeem:
This sort of thing was done by the Christians who took the days in which great events happened to Jesus as eeds, or by the Jews. Indeed the Eed is a legislated law, so what Allaah legislates is followed, otherwise do not innovate in this religion that which is not part of it.
He also added to this saying:
You would find these people (who celebrate the birthday of the Prophet) feeble in following the command of the Messenger, that which they have been commanded to be eager and vigorous in, indeed they are of the position of one who adorns the Mushaf but does not read what is in it or reads what is in it but does not follow it. Or the position of one who decorates the mosques but does not pray in them, or prays in them rarely…
Umrah

So I went to do Umrah a few days ago and alhamdulilah being in Makkah and the Holy Masjid is always such a pleasure. There was a lot of construction going on but what made me very delighted was the fact that the Masjid was considerably empty and of course kissing the black stone was very easy indeed (jealous much?)
Although I couldn’t stay in Makkah very long as I had to meet up with my Uncle in Jeddah and spend some time with him and his family, I strongly believe in keeping the relations of the womb and try my best to help family members.
Which makes me wonder, are you the same dear brother and sister? Do you help your family? Or do you see them as a burden? Often people treat their families and relatives very poorly and they treat their friends with immense reverence.
Having your own brother or sister help you calling towards Allah makes things so much easier. Prophet Muusa said:
And give to me an aider from my family:
Haroun, my brother,
Imaam Qortoobi writes in his famous tafsir:
And Haruun was heavier built then Muusa physically, a taller then him aswell as both whiter in complexion and more eloquent. He passed away three years before Muusas death.
I often hear brothers or sisters complaining saying my family is so bad they don’t practise etc I am the only one who prays and so forth.
My sincere advice to these people is to target perhaps your brother or sister one by one and try calling them towards the truth, do not try to change your entire family in one go, rather little by little inshAllah.

This is not really a post as such, more of an announcement. I am in the process of providing a weekly sms reminder for free, this would be in the form of quotes or small extracts sent to your mobile device.
This would be regardless of where in the world you might be, from the jungles of Africa to the igloos of Canada [and even to rainy old You Kay!]
If you are interested, email your phone number to ismaiil_84@msn.com.
I do realise that emailing your phone number is something private, but you are promised that it will not be used for any other purposes inshAllah.
I would be very grateful if I had some sort of feed back from people, is this a good idea? Do you already get these free reminders and perhaps get annoyed by them?
Please do not feel shy and tell me your honest opinions.
