The Salaf

al-Qalshaanee:

as-Salaf as-Saalih (the pious predecessors) are the first generation (and the other two who came after) who were well grounded in knowledge. Those who followed the guidance of the Prophet, safeguarding his Sunnah.

Allaah selected them to become companions of His Prophet, and chose them to aid this religion, they struggled for the sake of Allaah in its truest sense and never tired in advising the Muslim Ummah, sacrificing themselves in order to please Allaah.

And Allaah praised them in His book:

Muhammad is the Messenger of Allaah, and those who are with him (his companions) are firm against the non believers (yet) merciful amongst each other. [al-Fat-h v. 29]

And His statement:

For the poor emigrants who were expelled from their homes and their properties, seeking bounty from Allaah and [His] approval and supporting Allaah and His Messenger, [there is also a share]. Those are the truthful. [al-Hashr v. 8]

And Allaah mentioned the Muhajireen and the Ansaar in those verses (and the following ones) praising those who came after them and showing that His pleasure lies in following their footsteps.

Similarly He warned against a severe punishment against those who go against their way (the way of the companions) Allaah said:

And whoever opposes the Messenger after guidance has become clear to him, and follows other than the way of the believers – We will make him responsible for his choice and drive him into Hell, and evil it is as a destination.  [an-Nisaa v. 115]

So it is upon us to follow them with regards to what they taught us about the religion. And we practise Islaam the way they practised it whilst making du’aa for them as Allaah commanded us:

As for those who came after them, they say, O our Lord forgive us our sins and (the sins of) our brothers who preceded us in faith, and do not place in our hearts any resentment towards those who have believed, our Lord, verily You are Kind and Merciful. [al-Hashr v. 10]

Shaykh Bin Baaz [may Allah have mercy upon him]

Something you will notice about this Shaykh is that almost all types of people loved him [rahimahullah] even people from different sects. He was once asked what was the reason that people loved him so much, despite the differences they had among each other, he replied:

I do not know of anything, except that since I realised the truth whilst I still was a youth, calling towards Allah and having patience upon the hardships I had to face, I never tried to make anyone love me, nor did I ever beautify my speech towards anyone.

I spoke the truth by the Grace of Allah and had patience upon the hardships that afflicted me, if [my speech] was accepted then alhamdulilah and if not alhamdulilah.

This was my path that I treaded, both in my speech and in my writing, whomsoever wanted to accept it accepted it and whomsoever wanted to turn away from it turned away from it...

So I do not know any other reason then that, I used to speak the truth with the help of Allah as much as I could and I used to spread it both in speech and through action, and if I was ever targeted I never retaliated with harm or harshness rather I made du'a that Allah give them tawfeeq and guidance.

This was my way with both the royals and the common people.

Reading Surah Faatiha twice?

Question: What is the ruling for the person who repeats the recitation of Surah Faatiha? Meaning when he finishes it once, he recites it once again? Answer: It is not allowed to knowingly repeat Surah Faatiha, since this has not be reported from the Prophet.  And he said;

Whoever introduces anything new into our affair (i.e. Islaam) that which is not from it, then it will be rejected. [Bukhaaree]

However the Salaah is still correct, and such a person should be given sincere advice (to stop it) so that he does not repeat this practise. [Fataawa al-Lajnah ad-Daa-imah 276/8]
