How strange our salah is!

This is a very beautiful Qaseedah in the arabic language by al-Imaam Haafidh al-Hakami. InshaaAllaah it will serve as a reminder for us so that we may improve our Salah. If Allaah bestows upon us the tawfeeq and ability then inshaaAllaah we shall try our best to upload a translated version in the english language, until then I hope we can try and pick up a few words here and there.

Never think it is to late

This it the story about how Ibn Hazm (a scholar from the past) started his journey for knowledge. Imaam Aboo Muhammad 'Abdullah ibn Muhammad reported that Ibn Hazm told him of the reason why he started seeking knowledge (fiqh). He said:

I attended a Janazah (funeral) prayer and entered the masjid and sat down without praying two rak'aat, a man told me stand up and pray tahyi-atul masjid! This was at the age of 26, so I stood up and prayed. Then when we returned from the Janazah I stood up (once more) to pray two rak'aat and I was told sit down! This is not the time to pray! - it was after 'Asr. So I left in a sad state, and said to my teacher who had raised me, show me the house of the Faqeeh (scholar) Aboo 'Abdillah ibn Dahoon. So I went to him and told him of what had happened to me, so he guided me to al-Muwatta of Imaam Maalik so I started studying it with him.

Passing away in Ramadhaan

Question: The Prophet said;
When Ramadhaan arrives the doors of Paradise are flung open and the doors of Hellfire are slammed shut.
Does this mean that one who dies in Ramadhaan enters Paradise without questioning? Answer: The situation is not as such. Rather, what this means is the doors of Paradise are flung open as an inspiration to the Muslims to make easy their entry (to Paradise). And the doors of Hellfire are shut to prevent the Believers from sins such that they do not enter (through) these doors. And this does not mean that one who dies in Ramadhaan enters Paradise without questioning, rather those who shall enter Paradise without questioning are those whom the Messenger has described in his statement;
They are the ones who do not steal and do not cauterise and are not pessimistic and in their Lord they put their trust.
