Things created by the hand of Allah

On the authority of al Haarith ibn Nawfal:

“Allaah created three things with His Hand:

  1. He created Adam with His Hand
  2.

  3. He wrote the Tawraah with His Hand and
  4.

  5. He planted Firdaus with His Hand.”
  6.

[Collected by ad Daylami, It was also collected by ad Darqutni in ‘As Sifaat’ P. 26 #28 and Abu Ash Shaikh in ‘Al ‘Udhmah’: 5/1555]

In another Hadeeth narrated by ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr:

“Indeed Allah – the Mighty and Majestic – created three things with His Hand; He created Adam with His Hand, He wrote the Torah with His Hand and He planted Firdaws with His Hand.” [Collected by ad Darqutni in ‘As Sifaat’ P.45 and al Bayhaqi in ‘Al Asma was Sifat’: P. 403 on the authority of al Harith ibn Nawfal.]

It was authentically reported that ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar said:

“Allaah created four things with His Hand;

  1. The Throne
  2.

  3. The Pen
  4.

  5. Aadam and
  6.

  7. The paradise of ‘Adn.
He then said to the rest of the creation ‘Kun’ [Be] and it was.”

Adh Dhahabi stated in ‘Al ‘Uluw’: ‘It’s chain is good.’

Al Albaani stated in ‘Mukhtasar al ‘Uluw’ P.105: ‘The chain is authentic according to the conditions of Muslim.’

On the authority of ‘Abdullaah ibn al Haarith who said; the Messenger of Allaah – صلى الله عليه و سلم – said:

“Allah created three things with His Hand; He created Adam with His Hand, He wrote the Torah with His Hand and He planted Firdaws with His Hand. He then said; “By my Glory, neither a drunkard nor a ‘Dayyooth’ will live in it”The companions asked: ‘O Messenger of Allah, we know the drunkard, but who is the Dayyooth?’

He responded: “One who consents to evil in his family.”[1]

[Collected by al Khira-ity in Masaawi al Akhlaaq: P.62, #426]

On the authority of ibn ‘Umar – may Allah be pleased with him:

“Allah created four things with his hands: The throne, the paradise of ‘Adn, Adam and the PenHe veiled the creation from Himself with four:

Fire, then darkness, then light, then darkness.”

Al Haakim stated: ‘The chain is authentic according to the conditions of both Bukhari and Muslim but they did not collect them [in their Saheehs].’

[Mukhtasar al ‘Uluw by al Albaani]

Ibnul Qayyim stated:

It has been authentically reported by both al Bukhari and Muslim in their Saheehs, that the Prophet – صلى الله عليه و سلم – said in the Hadeeth of the intercession: it will be said to Musa: ‘…You are Musa that Allah has specified with His [direct] Speech [to you] and wrote the Tablets for you with His Hand…’

[Bayaan Talbees al Jahmiyyah 1/153]

Ibn ‘Uthaymeen said:

The people of knowledge stated that Allah did not create anything with His Hand except Adam, the Paradise of ‘Adn – for indeed he created it with His Hand, and He wrote the Torah with His Hand. These are three things that were by the Hand of Allaah – the Mighty and Majestic, as for [those of mankind] other than Adam , they were created by the word ‘Kun’ (be).

[Tafseer Surat al Kahf: P.89]

There are Ahadeeth collected by Bukhari and Muslim that affirm that Allah created Adam with His Hand, He wrote the Torah with His Hand and that He planted ‘Adn with His Hand in separate narrations, they can be translated if needed but the authentic narrations in this article should be sufficient.

[1] It also means one who does not have any jealousy for his family and therefore allows evil to take place.

The Bigger Jihad

Allah the Most High said:

وَالَّذِينَ جَاهَدُوا فِينَا لَنَهْدِيَنَّهُمْ سُبُلَنَا وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَمَعَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ

But as for those who strive hard in Our cause -We shall most certainly guide them onto paths that lead unto Us: for, behold, God is indeed with the doers of good.

Allah linked guidance to struggle (or effort put in), meaning that the people who are the most guided are those who put in the most effort. And the most obligatory forms of Jihad is that of ones own soul and the Jihad against lusts and desires, alongside with Jihad against the Shaytaan and Jihad against this dunya. So whoever struggles against these four things seeking the pleasure of Allah than Allah will guide him towards His pleasure and Jannah. And whoever leaves of this Jihad then his guidance will be deficient in proportion to how much he neglected this type of struggle. al-Junaid said (explaining the verse):

But as for those who strive hard against their desires in Our cause through repentance -We shall most certainly guide them onto the paths of ikhlaas (sincerity): and it is not possible for a person to fight against his enemies if he can not overcome these things.

So if he is victorious in this type of Jihad then he will be victorious fighting his enemies however if he fails in this type of Jihad then he will surely be defeated by his enemies.

Random Fatwa

Reading Surah Faatiha twice?

Question: What is the ruling for the person who repeats the recitation of Surah Faatiha? Meaning when he finishes it once, he recites it once again? Answer: It is not allowed to knowingly repeat Surah Faatiha, since this has not be reported from the Prophet.  And he said;

Whoever introduces anything new into our affair (i.e. Islaam) that which is not from it, then it will be rejected. [Bukhaaree]

However the Salaah is still correct, and such a person should be given sincere advice (to stop it) so that he does not repeat this practise. [Fataawa al-Lajnah ad-Daa-imah 276/8]
