We understand Tawheed!

This topic can not be stressed enough even though some people say we understand Tawheed! We are muslims! Not Mushriks, teach us other stuff that will gain us more benefit instead of adressing us as non muslims talking about Tawheed day in and day out!

Shaykh Saaleh aale-Shaykh mentions in his explanation of kashf ash-Shubuhaat, the following story:

Shaykh-ul-Islam Muhammad ibn Abdul-Wahhaab was with his students and after having completed the study of his book ‘Kitab at-Tawheed’, he wished to start again the study of this book for the 3rd or 4th time.

His students said to him : “O Shaykh, we wish to study another book, a book of fiqh or hadith”.

The Shaykh replied: “Why (do you wish to study another book)?”.

His students: “We have in fact understood Tawheed, we want to study another science”.

The Shaykh: “Wait, I shall give some thought to this”.

A few days later, the shaykh came to the lesson with a troubled face. His students asked him the reason for it.

The shaykh explained that he’d come across something which angered him. His students asked what it was.

The Shaykh: “It has been related to me that the inhabitants of a house have sacrificed a rooster (for a Jinn) in front of their door. I have sent someone to confirm this affair”.

Some time later, his students asked him about the affair that he had mentioned.

The Shaykh replied: “In fact, the inhabitants of this house did not sacrifice for other than Allaah, but it was someone who fornicated with his mother”.

Shocked, his students exclaimed:”We seek refuge with Allaah! He fornicated with his mother? We seek refuge with Allaah! He fornicated with his mother…”.

After mentioning this story, Shaykh Saleeh explained that Shaykh-ul-Islam told this story to show them that the statement “We understand Tawheed” is ignorance and is one of the greatest tricks of the Shaytaan.

This post has left me a little confused so i was hoping you would be able to explain insha Allah.

I do not understand how the story of sacrificing a rooster or fornicating with your mother is related to tawheed?

    Jazakallahu khayr

May Allah reward you for asking about something that you did not understand.

What the post is trying to get across is that even though committing Zina with your own mother is a very wicked and nasty thing to do it is not as worse in degree as committing Shirk since Shirk is the biggest of all sins. So it was wrong for the people in the story to react more harsh to the sin of zina whereas when it came to the Shirk they treated it as minor even though it is the biggest wrong a human can commit.

In short if they had understood Tawheed properly they would have hated Shirk more then Zina.

Amazing! If that person did not ask you that question about his confusion i myself never would have understood. Alhamdulillah.

Often if you ask a question chances are that many people around you are having the same thoughts but are either too shy to ask or too prideful to ask, may Allah not make us from amongst any of these people.

Yes I was a bit confused aswell. Alhamdulillah may Allaah reward you and the questioner. Ameen.

Patience

Imaam Ibn al-Qayyim - may Allah have mercy upon him - said in his famous book al-Waabil as-Sayyib min Kalaam at-Tayyib

...So if the slave [of Allah] has the right patience that is required of him, then the trials that afflict him will intruth be turned into blessings, and the misfortune will be turned into fortune and that which he disliked will be replaced with something he loves and cherishes.

For verily Allah the Most High, does not test him in order to destroy him, rather He only tests him [with hardship] in order to see his patience and status as a slave. Because Allah has the right to be worshipped at times of hardship aswell as in times of ease, and it is upon the slave [of Allah] to worship his Lord both in times of difficulty and ease, but most of the creation only give Allah His right of worship when it comes to the things they like.

But in reality, this is where the slaves of Allah surpass eachother [i.e worshipping Allah at times of hardship] and it is because of this they are higher in status infront of Allah.

[For an example] Making wudhu with cold water under the intense heat is without a doubt worship, and getting intimate with ones beautiful wife which one loves dearly is similarly worship even spending wealth upon her, his offspring and himself is worship.

[But contrary to this] Making Wudhu with cold water in the intense cold is worship and leaving off sin which the nafs so badly craves for, even though no human being might see you, is worship. And spending from your wealth at times of hardship is worship.

But what a difference!
