Never Judge!

It is often very easy for practising muslims to judge and look down upon non practising muslims, forgetting quickly that it was only through the grace and mercy of Allaah that they themselves were guided.

كَذَلِكَ كُنتُم مِّن قَبْلُ فَمَنَّ اللّهُ عَلَيْكُمْ

You, too, were once in the same condition - but God has been gracious unto you. [Surah Nisaa]

Narrated by Aboo Hurayrah that he said, I heared the Messenger of Allaah say:

There used to be two brothers from the Children of Israel, one of them used to sin whilst the other was a strong worshipper.

The worshipping brother never used to see the sinning brother except in the state of sin (always committing a sin). And he used to say to him “Decrease!” (in terms of how much sin he used to commit).

Then one day he found him committing yet another sin whereupon he proclaimed “Decrease!” So his brother said to him, leave me alone with  my Lord (i.e only He can judge me), were you sent as a guardian over me?! So the worshipping brother said “By Allaah! Allaah will never forgive you! And you will never enter paradise!”

So their souls were taken (i.e they passed away) and were gathered infront of the Lord of the worlds. And (Allaah) said to the worshipper “Did you have any knowledge of Me? Or did you possess the powers that I possesss?”

Then (Allaah) said to the sinner “Go and enter Paradise by My Mercy” And (Allaah) said to the other one “Take him away to the Hell fire!” [Sunan Abee Daawood 4901]

Do not be passive

Ibn Abee Dunya and al-Bayhaqi both reported on the authority of Ibraaheem bin 'Amr as-San'aani that he said:

Allah inspired Yush'a bin Nuun (the prophet after Moosa):

I am going to destroy forty thousand people from the good people amongst you and sixty thousand people from your wicked people.

He said:

O my Lord! These are the wicked people (I understand that) but what is the matter with the good people (i.e why destroy them too)?

Allah replied:

They did not become angry for what I became angry with and they used to eat with them (meaning with the wicked people) and used to drink with them.

Reading Surah Faatiha twice?

Question: What is the ruling for the person who repeats the recitation of Surah Faatiha? Meaning when he finishes it once, he recites it once again? Answer: It is not allowed to knowingly repeat Surah Faatiha, since this has not be reported from the Prophet.  And he said;

Whoever introduces anything new into our affair (i.e. Islaam) that which is not from it, then it will be rejected. [Bukhaaree]

However the Salaah is still correct, and such a person should be given sincere advice (to stop it) so that he does not repeat this practise. [Fataawa al-Lajnah ad-Daa-imah 276/8]
