Aboo Thaabit

I do not like doing this but I saw a need for it due to the numerous brothers and sisters who ask, who is Aboo Thaabit? Who does he study with etc? And in reality this is something important i.e. that you know who you take your knowledge from (you ask with manners).

Thus I decided to write a list of the main/some scholars I have/am studied/studying with and I ask Allaah to save me both from riyaa’ and the evil eye.

If after reading this you still do not find peace of mind studying  with me, I ask Allaah to guide you towards someone much better than myself whom you will benefit more from.

Smart phones

One of the ways of helping your da’wah grow, is to keep up with technology and even though I am young it is sometimes difficult to keep up with all these new gadgets and stuff.

However I am pleased to say that now the da’waah includes blackberry phones as well as iPhones. Meaning that whoever has a blackberry phone and uses the blackberry messenger service can now add Aboo Thaabit and receive beneficial reminders and gems about Islaam, same goes for iPhone/Android users.

This is what you do.

Blackberry users: Add the pin 21C40189 and inshaaAllaah you’ll be receiving reminders shortly (sometimes there is a glitch in the system and you will not receive any broadcasts, please delete me and re add me if you don’t receive a reminder for more than a week)

iPhone/Android users: Download the application Whatsapp (it is very cheap and worth it inshaaAllaah) and then email your number to ismaiil_84@msn.com and you will be added and ready to receive reminders.

For all other people who don’t have any of these smart phones do not despair! The regular SMS service will still be running to the best of its ability. To sign up for that, just check the right hand column and follow the instructions.

Ahmad bin Hanbal's days as a student...

Al-Khallaal (said) 'Alee bin Sahl informed us saying:

I saw Yahya bin Ma'een (a great scholar in hadith) with 'Affaan alongside Ahmad bin Hanbal, 'Affan said to them there is no hearing of hadith today! Whereupon Yahya replied, are you going to send back Ahmad bin Hanbal after he came to you (all this way)?

He replied, the door is locked and the servant is away (meaning  come back another time). Yahya said, I will open it for you, and so he did. Astonished 'Affaan said, you know how to pick locks aswell!? And he started narrating hadith to them.

Reading Surah Faatiha twice?

Question: What is the ruling for the person who repeats the recitation of Surah Faatiha? Meaning when he finishes it once, he recites it once again? Answer: It is not allowed to knowingly repeat Surah Faatiha, since this has not be reported from the Prophet.  And he said;

Whoever introduces anything new into our affair (i.e. Islaam) that which is not from it, then it will be rejected. [Bukhaaree]

However the Salaah is still correct, and such a person should be given sincere advice (to stop it) so that he does not repeat this practise. [Fataawa al-Lajnah ad-Daa-imah 276/8]
