Allaah descending last third of the night.

And some deceived “intellectuals” say, this subjects Allaah to always being descending to the heavens because the last third of the night is always present in different parts of the world.

We say: How ignorant you are of Allaah and His attributes! Do you think this matter that you mention was hidden from Allaah when He informed His Prophet? If these people answer Yes (we think that knowledge of this matter was indeed hidden from Allaah) then they become disbelievers and there is no need to debate with them whatsoever.

However if they answer of course (Allaah indeed knows everything!) Then we tell them, we believe in the textual evidence the way it reached us. And we do not subject Allaah to the rules of nature (since He is the creator of these rules) rather we believe in the hadiths that reach us and we do not make things difficult upon ourselves, forcing us to deny that which is established (by Allaah and His Messenger).

Three Categories of Tawheed.

As Muslims we know that Tawheed is divided into three categories, Tawheed ar-Rubobiyyah, Tawheed al-Ulohiyyah and Tawheed al-Asmaa wa Sifaat.

However some people argue that these categories of Tawheed are something new. And in their opinion only Ibn Taymiyyah and Muhammad bin ‘Abdil-Wahhaab invented these categories. But these people do not realise that even the Salaf used to divide Tawheed into these three categories.

The books of the pious predecessors are filled with references to these different categories of Tawheed. And if I were to bring all their statements, this book would become very lengthy indeed! But sufficient for me is what some of our pious predecessors have said regarding the categories of Tawheed. And this will show that Tawheed is indeed divided into three categories and I will only quote scholars who lived before Ibn Taymiyyah, regardless of math-hab.

1. Imaam Aboo Haneefah [death 150 AH] mentions this in his book al-Fiqh al-Absat.

2. al-Haafidh ibn Munduh [death 395 AH] mentions this in his book at-Tawheed.

3. Ibn Jareer at-Tabari (the famous Mufasir) [death 310 AH] mentions it in his famous tafsir. (Surah Muhammad verse 19)

4. Imaam at-Tahaawi [death 321 AH] mentions it in his book al-Aqeedah at-Tahaawiyyah.

5.  Aboo Muhammad al-Marta-ish an-Naysaabooriyy [death 328 AH] is qouted by Aboo Nuaym in his Hilyah, saying Tawheed is divided into three categories.

6. Aboo Haatim al-Bustee [death 354 AH] mentions it in his book Rawdhatul ‘Uqalaa wa Nuzhatul Fudhalaa.

7. Ibn Abee Zayd al-Qayrawaanee al-Maaliki [death 386 AH] mentions it in his book ar-Risaalah.

8. Imaam Ibn Battah al-Hanbali [death 387 AH] mentions it in his book al-Ibaanah.

9. Aboo Bakr al-Dardooshee al-Maaliki [death 520 AH] mentions it in his book Siraaj al-Muluuk.

10. Aboo ‘Abdillaah al-Qortobee al-Maaliki [death 671 AH] (the famous Mufasir) mentions it in his famous tafseer

The Platinum card of akhirah

The Messenger of Allaah صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ said:

“A person from my Ummah will be summoned in the presence of all creatures on the Day of Judgement. Ninety-nine scrolls (of his deeds) would be unfolded, each extending as far as the range of the vision can stretch, then he would be asked: ‘Do you deny any of these deeds? Did My preserving scribes wrong you?’ He will reply ‘No my Lord’, It will be said to him: ‘Do you have any excuse or any good deed?’ He will say: ‘No my Lord’  It will be said to him: ‘Yes you have some good deeds. No iniquity will befall you.’

A card will then be shown to him, on it will be written: ‘There is none worthy of worship besides Allaah and Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.’ And the scales are brought. He will say: ‘O Allaah! This (one) card alongside these scrolls.’ It will be said to him: ‘No injustice shall befall you.’ The (ninety-nine) scrolls will then be placed in one pan of the scale and the card on the other. The card will then outweigh the records. there is nothing that outweighs the name of Allaah” [At-Tirmidhi and Al-Haakim amongst others]

Hajj with Abdullaah bin Mubaarak

With the blessed month of Hajj approaching fast I am sure many of us would love to have Imaam Abdullaah bin Mubaarak as their organiser. Imaam ad-Dhahabi mentions in his famous book Siyar-'Allaam an-Nubalaa:

Whenever the time for Hajj used to approach Abdullaah bin Mubaarak used to gather the people of his village and they used to say to him 'We will accompany you [for hajj]' He used to reply 'bring your wealth' then he used to take their wealth and place it in a safe and lock it.

Then he would take them from their village to Baghdaad, and throughout the journey he would to spend upon them from his own wealth, giving them the best type of food and best type of sweets. Then he would take them from Baghdaad whilst they would be in their most beautiful appearance [in terms of clothes etc] and most complete grandure.

Until they would reach the city of the Prophet, he would ask them what have your families asked you to buy for them? So they replied such and such.  Then he would take them to Makkah, after having completed their hajj he would say to them what have your families asked you to buy for them from the goods of Makkah? So they replied such and such. And he would buy it for them, then they would leave Makkah. Throughout the journey he would spend upon them from his own wealth until they reached their home village again.

Upon returning home he [Abdullaah bin Mubaarak] would help re-build their houses and after three days [after arrival] he would organise a big feast for them and give them new clothes and when they had finished eating and felt joyful he would call for the safe to be brought out and opened then he would return the weatlh of each and everyone.
